Event Description

Join the Mongolian Ambassador and colleagues for presentations which will give insights into modern Mongolia and the challenges and opportunities it faces at this important stage in its modernisation. Last year was the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Britain, and the event will also shed light on wider developments in the bilateral relationship as well as strengthening ties between Mongolia and Scotland.

  1. Mongolia’s International Relations: Mongolia’s strategic position and its growing role in international diplomacy including peacekeeping
  2. Mongolian Economy: Introduction to the Mongolian economy; challenges and opportunities, medium-term economic prospects and policy measures
  3. Cooperation in Cultural Exchanges and Education: Exploring Mongolian involvement in international cultural activities and education programmes, in particular with U.K.
  4. Environment and Conservation: Examining Mongolia’s unique environmental challenges, including water shortage and desertification, and opportunities for collaboration in protecting the ecosystem
  5. Tourism: The role of tourism in Mongolia’s development, and how this can be furthered in cooperation with the U.K.
  6. Bilateral Relations: The way ahead in strengthening relations between the U.K.  and Mongolia, including trade, people-to-people cooperation and mutual support in international forums

    H.E. Ambassador Enkhsukh Battumur brings over two decades of diverse governmental experience to diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the UK. Currently serving as Mongolia’s Ambassador to the UK, Ambassador Enkhsukh previously held roles including Deputy Director General at the General Intelligence Agency of Mongolia, Director General of the Intellectual Property Agency of Mongolia and Head of Consular Division at the Embassy of Mongolia in Beijing, China. With advanced degrees in Public Management and Law, he has also contributed significantly to legislative efforts, chairing committees on cybersecurity, crime prevention and intellectual property. Ambassador Enkhsukh’s commitment to public service and expertise in diplomacy continue to elevate Mongolia’s presence in the UK.
