Join the Asia Scotland Institute and Brodies for a hybrid panel discussion exploring how Gen Z is shaping politics, geopolitics and the future of work. Drawing on developments including India’s Cockroach Janta movement, the panel will consider how governments, businesses and other institutions can respond to a generation coming of age amid geopolitical uncertainty and the rapid expansion of AI.

Giles ChanceAuthorGiles’ involvement in China began back in 1984 after meeting his future Chinese wife at the World Bank in Washington DC. After getting married in London in 1988, they set up a Chinese advisory business with offices in London, Shanghai and Beijing advising MNC’s on their entry to and development in the China market.
In 2003, Giles co-founded a China-focused boutique investment bank called Evolution Securities China with offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong and London, raising capital for private Chinese companies in London and Hong Kong and advising Western portfolio investors on China.
Between 1989 and 2010, China developed from being a poor isolated country to a superpower. Giles saw this remarkable transition close up, at first hand. “Living with Dragons” is his personal memoir of those remarkable and important years.

Kirsty DouglasDoctoral Researcher at the University of EdinburghKirsty Douglas is a doctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh, investigating reasons for professional turnover amongst Gen Z and Millennial nurses. Retention policies across the service sector may benefit from this research, with its consideration of generational values and intergenerational value conflict in the workplace.
Kirsty’s background is distinctly anthropological, with degrees in Philosophy, Nursing and Medical Genetics, as well as experience in the UK health sector and EU public health advocacy.
