Biography
Eleanor is a 4th year student reading Chinese at the University of Edinburgh. Recently come back from a year abroad studying Mandarin at Fudan University in Shanghai, where she held a Confucius Institute Scholarship.
Eleanor has absolutely loved travelling around China and is now keen to use her own experiences there, and her role as External Relations Officer at the University of Edinburgh’s China Futures Society, to encourage greater engagement in Sino-Scottish relations.
Eleanor’s research this year will focus on Chinese geopolitical relations, the evolution of the public sphere in China and the structure and process of domestic politics and policy. Once graduated, she hopes to return to China to further enhance her Mandarin language skills and understanding of Sino-UK relations.
