It was an honour to be joined by the Thai Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi at the Scotland Office. This was a unique opportunity to hear firsthand about Thailand’s current economic landscape and its role in the ASEAN community. The conversation delved into Thailand’s economic outlook, reflecting on recent developments and exploring prospects for the future. As part of ASEAN, one of the world’s most dynamic economic regions, Thailand is uniquely positioned to contribute to and benefit from regional integration and cooperation. We discussed the country’s role within this dynamic bloc and the opportunities it presents.

Heidi Kuhn, Founder and CEO of Roots of Peace, a humanitarian-nonprofit organisation was launched over 25 years ago. The Asia Scotland Institute had the privilege to host Heidi as a speaker when she visited Scotland in 2022 to speak in both Edinburgh and Glasgow before tracing her ancestor’s roots in Old Kilpatrick. The Board and members of the Asia Scotland Institute convey their deep sadness on the news of HM The Queen’s death. Admired around the world for her sense of duty and example of tireless leadership for others in the Commonwealth countries and elsewhere, her keen interest in Asia has been a beacon to follow and inspire those engaging with that part of the world. She will be sadly missed by us and our deep condolences are offered to the members of the Royal Family.
